‘They’ve Disgraced Themselves And The Entire Nation’ – Nana Fredua Scolds NDC Over Commonwealth Petition | Politics

Board Chairman of the National Theatre, Nana Fredua Agyeman Ofori-Atta, has slammed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for hopping to the Commonwealth Nations to investigate Ghana under suspicions of human rights abuses.

The NDC has petitioned the Commonwealth Nations to monitor the human rights situation in Ghana as well as what they say is criminal persecution of its members.

According to the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who announced the petition to the press on Monday, February 28, it was necessary to send the petition to the international entity because of the “harassment, criminal persecution and human rights violations” against some NDC leading members including their National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

“There are some practices that are not in accordance with good governance and the principles of the Commonwealth so we have petitioned them to take the appropriate action,” he added.

But Nana Fredua, sharing dissenting views on the petition, ridiculed the NDC for going to the Commonwealth Nations.

He wondered how the NDC would have the audacity to petition an international body to report human rights violations when they have a track record of abusing the people’s rights and criminally pursuing innocent Ghanaians.

Although this, he said, is not to justify human rights encroachment by any government including the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), he finds it ridiculous that the NDC are crying about rights infringement which, to him, is not even the reality in Ghana under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“They think everyone in Ghana is a kid. They think the wise people in Ghana are not many . . . I feel they have disgraced themselves and the entire nation,” he said while making submissions on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”.

Asabee Dazzles Delegates In Ashanti | Politics

Published

Constituency executives in the Ashanti Region have received with excitement the message from Stephen Asamoah Boateng popularly known as ASABEEE.

The former SIGA boss is currently touring constituencies in his birth ground, the Ashanti Region ahead of the upcoming national chairmanship elections of which he is eyeing the seat as Chairman.

With open confessions and commitments from about 20 constituencies he has toured so far in the region, the reception has been positive for ASABEEE.

Starting his latest tour from his home town of Konongo in the Ashanti Akyem enclave on Saturday and Sunday with massive endorsements from the constituency executives, ASABEEE toured the Bekwai enclave on Monday morning meeting constituency executives from the enclave.

Some of the constituency executives were surprised that ASABEEE was touring their area again, this time coming down Constituency-by-Constituency.

Speaking at these constituencies with a five (5) point plan, the former State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) Director General said he was into the race of chairmanship to win and lead with unified front. “Did you contest to end up as opposition party executive”? Asabeee asked. To a loud response of “No”, Asabeee promised that like them he is in to win the Chairmanship Position and re-energise the NPP to go out and beat the NDC emphatically in 2024 General Elections at all cost.

He promised to resource party persons with logistics and in a timely manner to be able to carry out their mandates and also plan effectively for party work. “I will organise sponsors who believe in our government policies and have the goodwill to see us better manage the economy for the prosperity of Ghanaians”, Asabeee said.

Hon. Asabeee also intimated his desire to lead for amendments in the Party’s Constitution for specific duties to be assigned to elected and appointed executives such as Deputy Secretaries as well as other deputies in the main structure of the party so they function efficiently and effectively.

In his 4th point, the energetic ASABEEE said he would commence a discussion with party leadership when he becomes Chairman so that they could implement what he has termed as agenda 60/40.

This agenda, ASABEEE explained would mean a discussion with the President on how to allocate at least some 40% of all appointments to the Party at Constituency and polling station levels. This will go a long way to bridge the gap between government and Party.

Capping his message, Hon Asabeee noted that the 2024 General elections will not be an easy task but was desirous of leading the NPP to the battleground as a “War Time General” who has the capacity to beat the NDC to their “own game”. He intends to build a strong Party that strategise and take anyone our party would present as flag bearer.

Some of the Chairmen who spoke to this reporter during the visit said their constituency executives were committed to Asabeee because they see him as their own and he has the energy and “No nonsense character” to face the NDC.

They also pledged their support to Asabeee, indicating that they would be voting en bloc on July 14 for the former SIGA boss.

Some of the Chairmen publicly endorsed the candidature of Asabeee, noting that the former Information Minister was the only one that was contesting as Chairman who had shown respect, humility and seriousness to them by touring their areas for at least two times.

They were appreciative of the show of respect and promised to reciprocate in kind by storming Accra to vote en bloc for ASABEEE at the National Elections on July 14.

Kwabena Duffuor Rallies Ghanaians For NDC | Politics

Published

on

FORMER MINISTER of Finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who has his eyes on the presidency, has asked Ghanaians to answer calls by his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to register and join the opposition party as active members towards its re-organisation for change in 2024.

According to him, they, as members of the party, know that most “Ghanaians are very sympathetic to our party, the NDC,” but pointed out that “the task of organising to win power and rescue Ghana from the torturing policies of the ruling NPP requires all sympathisers to register to become active members.”

In a statement issued yesterday, the NDC flagbearer hopeful said registering to become active members of the party is an opportunity for people to rise through the party’s ranks and get groomed for political leadership in the present-future.

“Active members also have a stake in the grassroots decision-making process of the party. Most importantly, you get to choose the leaders of the party at branch, constituency, regional and national levels,” he noted.

Dr. Duffuor, whose debut in the NDC presidential poll stoked hopes for his potential, said moreover that a registered, proud and official member of the NDC will have the right to submit policy proposals and ideas for appropriation of the party’s policy document, the manifesto.

He described the NDC as Ghana’s biggest and most progressive people-centered political party, saying, “To be the party’s ambassador and direct agent of the change we all desire, every member of the NDC joins at the branch level.”

“Your membership at the branch is a proud statement of your bold association with the NDC. Don’t remain a mere sympathiser. Become an active member,” he appealed.

Remain United To Ensure Victory In 2024 – Dr Duffuor Urges NDC Members | Politics

Published

on

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has called on members of the party to remain united as the party begins its internal elections.

He said unity was crucial to the party winning the 2024 elections, hence the need for all members to commit to working for the good of the party.

Decorum

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Dr Duffuor, a former Minister of Finance, also urged those seeking for various positions in the party to do so with decorum devoid of insults and attacks on opponents.

He called on those who might lose in the elections to support the winning candidates to ensure that the party went into the 2024 election in one piece, united in strength to deliver victory for the party.

While the party has fixed June 15 to the end of July this year for the branch elections, the ward elections will take place in August this year, with the constituency elections taking place in September 2022.

The party will hold its regional conference in October 2022 to elect its regional executive members, while that of national executive members will be held in November 2022.

As part of the regulations for the branch elections, nominations shall open upon an official publication or announcement by the general secretary seven clear days before the start of the election.

Critical process

Dr Duffuor said the processes leading to the internal elections were critical for the party to win the 2024 election.

He, therefore, stressed the need for cohesiveness and unity to help the party to recapture power.

He said Ghanaians were suffering and yearning for the NDC to save them from the bad economic policies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Dr Duffuor, who is also a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), said an NDC government would bring back good governance policies, pro-poor policies to alleviate the difficulties of Ghanaians and also stabilise the economy for businesses to thrive.
