NPP Youth To Partner UK Youth Wing To Raise Funds For Ghanaian Students In Ukraine | Politics

Published

on

Youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are raising funds for Ghanaian students in Ukraine in the wake of the unrest in the country.

The initiative, to be held on March 12, 2022 in the United Kingdom (UK), is in partnership with the NPP-UK wing in UK led by Richard Gyamfi.

The event would be attended by Her Excellency Mrs Samira Bawumia, 2nd Lady of the Republic of Ghana and a host of government officials and NPP leaders.

A statement, signed by National Youth Organiser, Henry Boakye, said the fund raising is to complement the timely and all-encompassing support being offered by Government of Ghana to the affected Ghanaian students.

“As a youth wing that has strong working ties with Ghanaian students abroad, we deem it obligatory to offer our widow’s mite to cushion the victims in these trying times,” the statement added.

Below is the full statement:

Following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and the subsequent evacuation of Ghanaian Students to neighboring countries, the NPP National Youth wing working with its youth wing in United Kingdom led by Richard Gyamfi intends to raise funds to compliment the timely and all-encompassing support being offered by government of Ghana to the affected Ghanaian students.

It is our understanding that about 700 Ghanaian students have fled Ukraine so far and reports are that some would want to, with the support of Government of Ghana, continue their education in countries like Hungary albeit a dozen of students returning to Ghana some few days ago.

As a youth wing that have strong working ties with Ghanaian students abroad, we deem it obligatory to offer our widow’s mite to cushion the victims in these trying times.

It is on this premise that we intend using the NPP-UK Branch’s Youth Forum 2022 event scheduled for March 12, 2020 in UK to raise funds to support our compatriots.

The aforementioned event would be attended by Her Excellency, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, 2nd Lady of the Republic of Ghana and a host of government Officials and NPP leaders.

We commend the government of Ghana and its foreign missions for their timely intervention and overarching support to our compatriots who have been at the receiving end of the Russia-Ukraine war.

These are extremely unusual and challenging times at the heart of a devastating pandemic and global economic crisis. However, we shall over come it, collectively.

Thank you.

…Signed…

Henry Nana Boakye ESQ
National Youth Organizer, NPP

The Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri constituency, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh has urged the western world not to be passive in the geo-politics of the world especially Africa.

He observed that anytime the western world became passive in global political affairs, autocratic countries such as China and Russia increased their activities to fill the vacuum created by the passive posture of the western world.

The Majority Chief Whip was speaking at the German-African Conference of Parliamentarians 2022, held in Berlin Germany.

The programme was on the theme “Africa and Europe in the age of a new geopolitical rivalry and how to improve bilateral cooperation in the light of the new EU-Africa strategy adopted in February 2022”.

Representatives from Africa and Europe attended the conference.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh also urged African countries to focus on their priorities and harness their natural resources towards national development.

He also urged citizens of Africa to hold their governments accountable in order to make them take decisions in the best interest of the people.

Drama Unfolds As NPP Aspirant Cries For Votes | Politics

Published

on

DRAMA UNFOLDED when an aspirant for the Ashanti Regional Second Vice Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Oscar Riches, burst into tears whilst he was campaigning for votes.

Affectionately called ‘Ghana Beye Yie’, Oscar was addressing the Effiduase Asokore Constituency executives of the NPP to solicit their votes, when he started to cry on Monday.

Ghana Beye Yie, who had then been given the platform to announce his campaign message to the NPP delegates, turned emotional whilst he was pleading with the delegates to support his bid.

According to him, he loved the NPP so much with his whole heart and so was only seeking the chance to be elected as the party’s regional second vice chairman so he could serve his beloved NPP.

In the course of his address, Ghana Beye Yie became emotional as he went down on his knees and started to cry uncontrollably, begging and pleading with the delegates to give him the chance to serve.

The NPP man’s shocking action, reportedly, made the NPP delegates present also emotional. Some of the delegates even consoled Ghana Beye Yie to stop crying and assured him of their votes.

After he had been consoled, Ghana Beye Yie continued with his statement, stressing that the NPP is the suitable political party to lead the country into affluence, so the party should stay in power.

According to him, election 2024 would be dicey and therefore the NPP should vote for patriotic, visionary and hardworking people like him to help the party to hang onto political power in 2024.
