Bawumia Is Around . . . Call Or WhatsApp Him! He’ll Respond To You!! – Nana Akomea Mocks Mahama | Politics

Published

on

STC Boss, Nana Akomea, has fired shots at former President John Dramani Mahama for ridiculing the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Political pundits have questioned the loud silence of Vice President Dr. Bawumia following the current economic challenges facing the country and adding his voice to the calls on Dr. Bawumia to appear from his seeming hideouts, Mr. Mahama stressed; “Daily price increases, fuel price adjustments and a nose-diving currency which has rather arrested the person who said he will arrest it. The dollar has rather arrested him. So we are looking for him we can’t find him. We will ask the IGP if he has the key so that we could find where our Vice President was.”

“The dollar has rather arrested him, and so we are looking for him. We can’t find him”, former President John Mahama mocked the Veep while speaking at the launch of a mobile app for the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at the University for Professional Studies in Accra on Monday.

Responding to the former President during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s ”Kokrokoo”, Nana Akomea disclosed the Veep’s whereabouts stating emphatically that “Bawumia is not running away. He is here. He is still the Head of the Economic Management team”.

He further showed him (Mahama) the way to reach Dr. Bawumia.

” . . President Mahama will find him if he is looking for him. He should call him or send him Whatsapp. Bawumia will give him a response,” he said.

Nana Akomea also retaliated Ex-President Mahama’s mockery by making reference to what he termed as the worst track record of a President ever in Ghana.

He asked Mr. Mahama to pinpoint a specific intervention he made during his tenure as Vice President and subsequently President that could match the Akufo-Addo government’s NABCo which, to him, has seen to the recruitment of at least 100,000 youths in Ghana.

He also juxtaposed the government’s free SHS and education structures to that of the former President Mahama’s era, emphasizing the results of the good works of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration are very “clear. The first batch of free SHS in 2020 and then the first batch of double track which came in 2021, their results were the best in West Africa”.

Nana Akomea advised Mr. John Mahama to stop deceitful schemes stating, ”If you want to brag that you can do something, we won’t accept that because we’ve given you a chance before. So, you can’t decieve us no more”.

Bawumia Is In “Pole Position” To Be NPP’s Flagbearer – Says Ben Ephson | Politics

Published

on

Renowned pollster, Ben Ephson has said that vice-president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is in a prime position to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections.

His assertion follows Monday’s declaration by NPP stalwart and former MP for the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency, PC Appiah-Ofori that he prefers Bawumia as the presidential candidate for the party.

Speaking on Asaase Radio on Monday (16 May), Ephson said “moving to PC Appiah-Ofori’s choice of Bawumia, he’s been in the party long enough and I think that Bawumia is in a pole position for the flagbearer. I think that I agree with PC Appiah-Ofori that Bawumia seems to be in pole position.”

“I think that people are entitled to their views. Even though some have come out declaring for Alan [Kyerematen] so, PC Appiah-Ofori coming out for Bawumia, he has one vote.”

Bawumia is not being projected as next NPP flagbearer
Meanwhile, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed assertions suggesting that there is a general acceptance of Bawumia as the next flagbearer of the party.

The NPP is yet to open nominations for the position, however, the vice-president’s name and a few others such as the former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen, former Railways Minister Joe Ghartey, and the Agric Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto are already making rounds as contenders.

I Prepared A Concession Speech Before 2016 Elections – Ex-Prez Mahama | Politics

Published

on

John Mahama, the former president has said he went into the 2016 elections knowing that he could lose or win therefore he had speeches prepared for both circumstances.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo defeated his main opponent by 53.8% to 44.4% in the polls after a third attempt at the presidency.

Talking to Samson Kasumba on Uganda-based NBS Television, Mahama said he has a track record of conceding defeat but feels the 2020 election ended under questionable circumstances.

Win or lose
“When going into an election, prepare to either win or lose. In 2016, I prepared two speeches, and unfortunately, I had to use the concession speech in 2016,” Mahama said.

“In 2016, I was the incumbent President, and I lost an election. I conceded and congratulated my opponent and attended his inauguration.

“I have a track record of conceding to elections asserting they were free and fair. 2021 was not the same. When I was President, we didn’t interfere with the election security committee. They did their job,” Mahama said.

World-class EC
Mahama said despite challenges, Ghana’s Electoral Commission has earned for itself an enviable record of world-class electoral body.

“We have gone from metallic boxes to transparent boxes, photo ID cards, and biometric registration.
We believe the Electoral Commission has built enough capacity to hold a free and fair election.”

“We have held several elections since 1992 in Ghana. Ghana has become the gold standard for elections, and our electoral commission is prided as one of the best on the continent,” the former president said.

2024 Polls: I’ll Contest For NPP Flagbearer Position – Kennedy Agyapong | Politics

Published

on

Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong has announced that he will contest in the upcoming presidential primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 general elections.

He made this announcement on his television network on Monday May 16. The NPP will be electing its flagbearer next year for the next elections.

In relation to the process for the internal polls, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo told the leadership of the NPP to ensure that the process to elect the presidential candidate is fair.

He indicated that fairness would reduce the level of divisions that will come in the party as a result of the contest.

Mr Akufo-Addo noted that as is in the case of every competition, there will be some form of divisions in the party after the internal polls. However, he said, the person to be elected as the flagbearer should have the ability to unite all the fronts.

“I am hoping that level playing field that allows us to elect our next presidential candidate will also bring us a candidate who can unite our party. Because competition, inevitably, will bring some divisions in the party but we are the ruling party so, there is the responsibility on us to conduct ourselves in a way that reduces cracks.

“Cracks in the NPP can have a reflection on the state, we are the ruling party and if our base which is our party is fractured that facture can be translated into fracturing the state, nobody wants that,” he said on Accra based Peace FM last year.
