Switzerland Fan Trolls Italy With World Cup 2022 Qualification Sign | Football/Soccer

Published

A Switzerland fan on hand for a friendly against England on Saturday took a turn trolling the Italian national team for missing out on qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He held up an enlarged Google search image that read, “Italy World Cup Qatar 2022” and underneath that, “Did you mean Switzerland?”

It was the Swiss, of course, who drew the Azzurri twice in the UEFA qualification group stage to send them to the play-offs, where they were stunned by North Macedonia. And the result must be extra sweet for fans after Italy smashed the Swiss 3-0 at Euro 2020.

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has heaped praise in the current Ghana Football Association (GFA) administration, led by Kurt Okraku.

Gyan believes Mr. Okraku has has ‘done an incredible job’ for Ghana football, utilising his experience gathered as a football administrator.

According to him, the GFA president who came into office at the end of 2019, took charge at a difficult time, as COVID-19 crippled football across the globe just months later.

“Kurt is a good football administrator, He knows football and he did so well handling his own team. He came at the wrong time, with COVID-19 having an effect. It was difficult to bring different people together. He’s been able to manage things very well. Kudos to him,” Gyan told Asaase FM.

Ghana’s all-time top scorer also added that his personal interaction with Okraku is a clear indication of the good work the GFA boss is doing.

“People have their own opinions. People close to him know the work he’s doing behind the scenes. For me, from my experience and from what I’ve seen, he’s a good guy. He’s doing an incredible job. Kudos to him he’s doing well,” he added.

The possibility of a second spell at the Allianz Stadium looks close for the Frenchman but his wage demands remain a potential stumbling block.

GOAL can confirm that Paul Pogba has been offered a three-year deal by Juventus, to potentially seal a return to Turin ahead of his expected Manchester United exit this summer.

The France international’s contract is up at Old Trafford at the end of June and he is widely expected to depart after six frustrating seasons at the Theatre of Dreams.

A return to Juventus, where he previously played before returning to United for a second spell in 2016, looks to be one of the likely options for his future and now the Italian giants have tabled an official offer to the player.

What are Juventus offering Pogba?

The Bianconeri are preparing a contract for three years that would tie the World Cup winner back to Turin until the end of the 2024-25 season.

GFA Bans Coach Aboagye And Kotoko’s Lamptey Over Match-Fixing Scandal | Football/Soccer

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sanctioned Felix Aboagye, the Head Coach of Inter Allies Football Club and former player Richmond Lamptey following a match-fixing scandal.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee found Inter Allies and AshantiGold guilty of match-fixing before and during a match-day 34 encounter of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The match resulted in a 7-0 win for AshantiGold under bizarre circumstances.

A ruling sighted by GNA Sports saw Coach Aboagy handed a two-year ban and would not participate in any football-related activity during that period.

“That the Coach Felix Aboagye is banned from taking part in any football-related activity for a period of 24 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations.

“That the Team Manager of Inter Allies, FC Reuben Adjetey is banned from taking part in any football-related activity for a period of 24 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i)of the Ghana Premier League Regulations,” Excerpts of the ruling said.

It also said former Inter Allies player, Richmond Lamptey, who now plays for Asante Kotoko was to serve a two- and half-year ban.

The ban is supposed to begin next season as the Ghana Football Association seeks to take further effect for the ban to take effect.

“This decision shall be communicated to FIFA to be given international application in accordance with the GFA Disciplinary Code and FIFA Disciplinary Code considering that a number of players are now playing in clubs outside the jurisdiction of the Ghana Football Association.”
